0713 rolling with it dont stop sign n5hkr9

If screeching brakes count, it might. In June, the Aspen City Council approved a rule that will allow bicyclists to roll through stop signs, or, more precisely, to treat stop signs the way cars treat yield signs. In discussing the ordinance with council, Aspen’s assistant police chief, Bill Linn, cited a University of California at Berkeley study that showed bike riders to be at greater risk when they stop at stop signs, mainly because motorists can’t tell if they’re going to stop or not. Now, if Aspen could only get rid of that pesky law outlawing launching things from catapults. (Seriously—ordinance 15.04.210; look it up.)
