The family-friendly celebration is going Gonzo again with its annual fundraiser at the late Hunter S. Thompson’s spread in Woody Creek. Aspen’s Old Fashioned Fourth of July

It doesn’t get more “Main Street USA” than our own, so scope out a spot and camp out as the antique cars, firetrucks, horses, musicians and more march through town. The celebration brings over 20,000 locals and visitors together and continues all day with Boogie's Buddy Race, a “Birthday Carnival” in Paepcke Park, AVSC’s picnic in Koch Park, and a free concert at the Benedict Music Tent by the Aspen Music Festival and School’s band. Sadly, the lack of rain and hot temperatures have forced the cancellation of the annual Fourth of July fireworks show on Aspen Mountain. Free, aspen4th.com
