Owner Ken Murphy learned of the craze for this type of themed experience—a now global phenomenon that morphed out of video games in Asia—when he noticed staff from his other businesses, Glenwood Adventure Company and Lakota Guides, taking time off to drive to escape rooms around the state.

Since opening in March, the Glenwood Springs facility has hosted families, dates, and coworkers to solve puzzles in a numbers-based Casino Heist, the 1980s-themed Aunt Edna’s Condo (hint: knowledge of cassette tapes might be useful), or the Egypt Tomb, considered the best option for encouraging teamwork and communication.
