Comedy-style improv guarantees no two shows will ever be the same. When it comes to Second City, which has been making people laugh for nearly six decades, it's a pretty solid bet you'll be rolling on the floor. In its latest revue, Look Both Ways Before Talking, the troupe dives headfirst into topics we all want to discuss but are afraid to say anything about out loud. At times, it can be uncomfortable, but that’s the fun of it. Curious? Check out one of their segments.

Paula Poundstone
7:30 p.m., Wheeler Opera House, $60

This veteran comedian has a quick wit that doesn’t quit. Her humor is smart, observational, and often spontaneous. You may know her from NPR's Wait, Wait...Don’t Tell Me!, where she’s a regular panelist, or from her books. Her second, The Totally Unscientific Study of the Search for Human Happiness, was recently released and is already a bestseller. Poundstone also voiced Forgetter Paula in the animated film Inside Out. Her accolades include an American Comedy Award for Best Female Standup Comic and a spot on Comedy Central’s list of The 100 Best Stand Up Comics of All Time.

If all this hype doesn’t make you excited for Poundstone, then this certainly will.

House, $52

Known as the Roastmaster General, Ross is famous for delivering hilarious roasts to just about anyone who asks for it ... and even those who don't. Perhaps you’ve seen his Comedy Central show Roast Battle or his new special, Jeff Ross Roasts Cops. Among the notables he's roasted are Rob Lowe, James Franco, and Justin Beiber. No subject is too high or too low for a good Jeff Ross roast, even maximum security prisoners. He’ll even roast nonhuman things, like the Mexican/U.S. border wallWho will he poke fun at this time in Aspen? Could it be you?

Saturday, Feb. 24

Mike Birbiglia
7:30 p.m., Wheeler Opera House, $75

This standup comic is also an author, filmmaker, actor, and podcaster. You may know him from his Netflix shows, which include My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend and Thank God for Jokes, or from the movies Sleepwalk with Me and Don’t Think Twice, which he wrote, directed, and starred in. You may know him from his Comedy Central record My Secret Public Journal Live or his New York Times bestseller Sleepwalk with Me and Other Painfully True Stories. Birbiglia’s comedy is often referred to as spoken word or storytelling. In other words, he doesn’t mess around with flash-in-the-pan jokes, then move onto the next thing. Each of his jokes leads to an overall theme or point in a larger story. He claims his current tour, The New One, is his best one yet. We know that beaches are involved based on this announcement about it. To get a better idea of Birbiglia's humor, check out this clip.
