History Ski Tour

Learn about the amazing mining and ski history lying beneath your feet as you tour Aspen Mountain with a long-time local historian. The tour meets at the mountaintop Guest Services cabin below the gondola. Free with lift ticket, aspenhistory.org

Owl Afternoon with ACES

 

3–5 p.m., Aspen Sports, Aspen

The Aspen Center for Environmental Studies hosts this family-friendly community event to support the nonprofit’s Children’s Education Fund. Meet ACES’ resident great horned owl, learn all about these beautiful birds, and participate in owl-themed crafts. During March, Aspen Sports will match by 50 percent any donation you make to the Children’s Education Fund at any of its 11 locations in Aspen and Snowmass Village. Free, aspennature.org

“No Barriers” by Erik Weihenmayer

Erik Weihenmayer didn’t just kayak the entire length of the Grand Canyon—he did it without sight. He relates the adventure in his book No Barriers: A Blind Man's Journey to Kayak the Grand Canyon. The North Face Grand Traverse

Cheer on the exhausted-looking skiers you’ll see making their way down Aspen Mountain, race bibs and backpacks signifying them as competitors in this annual race from Crested Butte. Shred the Cause Pt. 2
