It's Labor Day Weekend, which also means it's time for the annual, end-of-summer Motherlode Volleyball Classic. Yes, there is "beach" volleyball in Aspen!

Friday, August 31

Motherlode Volleyball Classic
All day, locations around Aspen
One of North America's classic pro-am beach volleyball tournaments, the Motherlode draws top players to compete on grass and sand in a half-dozen venues around Aspen for the 46th year in a row. Check the website for game times and locations. Free to watch, motherlodevolleyball.com

Mountain Top Yoga
10:30 a.m., Sundeck on Aspen Mountain
Take your practice to new heights... literally! Move, stretch, and come alive as you take in the views of the Rockies. All levels welcome. $5, aspenshakti.com 

Jazz Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience
4 p.m. (venue opens), Snowmass Town Park
The unofficial end-of-summer concert extravaganza has three days of incredible music in an awe-inspiring setting. While tickets are selling out fast, some are still available for Friday's shows with Michael Franti & Spearhead and Lionel Richie. From $110, jazzaspensnowmass.org

2018 Labor Day Weekend Art Show
6–8 p.m., Redstone Inn, Redstone
This gala kick-off reception is your chance to mix, mingle, meet some of the 25 artists who are exhibiting, and enjoy refreshments. Free, redstoneartfoundation.org

Boz Scaggs
10 p.m., Belly Up Aspen
The Grammy Award–winning musician known for his distinctive brand of blues rock, Scaggs just released a new album, Out of the Blues, and is having more fun with his music than ever, meaning audiences are in for a rocking good time. $95 GA, bellyupaspen.com

Fitz and the Tantrums play at 5 p.m. Saturday at the JAS Labor Day Experience.

Aspen Parkrun 
8 a.m., Aspen Recreation Center
Every Saturday, the Aspen Recreation department hosts weekly 5K timed runs. The course will follow the High School Trail through the school district to the Marolt Open Space, continue over the Castle Creek foot bridge, and then return. Parkrun is an international movement that encourages communities to sponsor free runs open to all. Free, parkrun.us/aspen

Jazz Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience
1 p.m. (venue opens), Snowmass Town Park
The unofficial end-of-summer concert extravaganza has three days of incredible music in an awe-inspiring setting. Saturday's lineup includes Bahamas, Fitz and the Tantrums, and Jack Johnson. There's even a silent disco after the show (tickets are an additional $25, and you must have a ticket to the main show, too). GA and gold-level VIP tickets sold out; silver-level VIP, $875, jazzaspensnowmass.org

Gary Clark Jr. JAS After Dark Show
9:30 p.m., Belly Up Aspen

Celebrate Life Through Art
5–8 p.m., Cha Cha Gallery, Aspen
Join in the celebration on this special evening with Cha Cha Gallery and Aspen Strong to to raise awareness of mental health and the use of art as an outlet. The gallery will present its Iconic collection, which features legendary icons photographed by renowned photographers such as Ron Galella and Claude Gassin, along with pieces by Mr. Brainwash and Domingo Zapata. Appetizers and cocktails will be served, and 5 percent of all purchases from the evening will benefit Aspen Strong. Free, chachagallery.com
