The leaves are going off, meaning now is the time to perfect your outdoor photography skills with expert Jeremy Swanson, who teaches a workshop Saturday in Ashcroft, in partnership with ACES and the Art Base.

Friday, September 21
Lunchtime Auctionette
11:45 p.m., Anderson Ranch Arts Center
This is your chance to buy original pieces of art by Anderson Ranch faculty, visiting artists, students, and staff, while also supporting the ranch’s educational programs. Red Butte Cemetery Tour

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum

Golden Leaf Half Marathon
8:30 a.m., Snowmass Village
The leaves look like they're going to deliver a spectacular show at this annual 13.1-mile run from Snowmass Village to Aspen, via the Government Trail, that's considered one of the country’s most scenic races. All 1,000 entries are sold out, but you can still volunteer at an aid station and cheer runners on along the way or at the finish at Koch Park. $80, aspenspecialevents.com
Aspen Alpine Guides Field Planning and Skills Clinic
8:30 a.m.–4 p.m., Aspen (location information with registration)
Presented in conjunction with the Elk Range Mountain Safety Coalition, this course will provide hands-on safety information so you can knowledgeably adventure in the mountains. Pre-registration required. $50; call 970-925-6618 to register
Fall Color Photography

Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day

Hosted by Smithsonian, this celebration "of boundless curiosity" offers free admission to museums across the country. 18th Annual Stirling Cup All-Star Classic

Members of the 1998 Olympic gold medal–winning US women’s hockey team face off against the University of Colorado Lady Buffaloes in this fundraiser for Aspen Junior Hockey. The Girl Who Cannot Speak will have its US premiere at the Launchpad in Carbondale this Saturday.
