Friday, November 2

Popcorn and a Movie: Incredibles 2
2 p.m., Carbondale Branch Library
Celebrate Halloween early at a matinee screening of Hotel Transylvania 3. Light refreshments provided. Free, gcpld.org   

Marking Ritual: Somatic Poetry Writing with CAConrad
3–5 p.m., Aspen Art Museum

First Friday: Dia De Los Muertos Community Celebration
5– 8:30 p.m., Third Street Center & Thunder River Theatre, Carbondale
Gather at the Third Street Center for altar viewing, face painting, Mexican hot chocolate, and traditional treats. The procession through town begins at 6:30 p.m. (be sure to bring candles or lights). Thunder River Theatre Company will host two viewings of Aspen Santa Fe Ballet Folklorico at 7 & 7:45 p.m., and there is fire and aerial silk performance by a Dance of the Sacred Fire at 4th and Main. CAConrad Poetry Reading: Resurrect Extinct Vibration
6 p.m., Aspen Art Museum
As part of the final iteration of the yearlong exhibition Ritual, poet CAConrad will present the new poetry ritual, “Resurrect Extinct Vibration.” The piece involves inducing a trance by saturating the body with recordings of recently extinct animals. Free, aspenartmuseum.org

Desert Dwellers

Saturday, November 3

Aspen Parkrun 
8 a.m., Aspen Recreation Center
Every Saturday, the Aspen Recreation department hosts weekly 5K timed runs. The course follows the High School Trail through the school district to the Marolt Open Space, continues over the Castle Creek foot bridge, and then returns. Parkrun is an international movement that encourages communities to sponsor free runs open to all. Free, parkrun.us/aspen
