Redstone Castle Tours

Built in 1902 by robber baron, industrialist, and coal magnate John Cleveland Osgood, the castle was originally a hunting retreat and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. Rock Bottom Ranch Farmyard Tour
11 a.m., Rock Bottom Ranch, Basalt
Staff and educators lead explorations of the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies' working ranch, including the animal paddocks, hoop houses, and gardens. They will also share the science behind vegetable production and livestock rotational grazing. Tours are appropriate for all ages. $5 per person/$10 per family/free for members, aspennature.org  

3rd Annual Barolo Night to Celebrate ACES & L'Hostaria

For its 22nd anniversary, the popular Italian eatery helps out the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies by donating 20 percent of the evening’s proceeds to the nonprofit's Children’s Education Fund. hostaria.com 

Deck the Walls Artisanal Market: Opening Reception

Aspen Parkrun 
8 a.m., Aspen Recreation Center
Every Saturday, the Aspen Recreation department hosts weekly 5K timed runs. The course follows the High School Trail through the school district to the Marolt Open Space, continues over the Castle Creek foot bridge, and then returns. Parkrun is an international movement that encourages communities to sponsor free runs open to all. Free, parkrun.us/aspen  

Aspen Mountain Opening Day
9 a.m., Gondola Plaza
Get your skis tuned! Aspen Mountain opens five days early, with 130 acres of top-to-bottom skiing accessible via the Silver Queen Gondola and the Ajax Express, Bell Mountain, and Little Nell chairlifts. If you don't have a pass, lift tickets are $99 per day for adults and $59 for children, teens, and seniors.
