In addition to one-person plays from Theatre Aspen's new Solo Flights festival and hundreds of high-school mountain bikers from around the state competing in races at Snowmass, this weekend offers free movies and music, a 10K community race, a salon with eight arts performers, and the annual fall classic, Ruggerfest.

Drunken Poets
6–8 p.m., Market Street at Willits Town Center, Basalt

The Arts Center at Willits (TACAW) presents another outdoors block party with live music, this time from the Drunken Poets, led by Randolph Turner, former frontman of longtime local rockers Jes Grew. Free, tacaw.org

Free Friday Night Movie
7:30 p.m., Aspen Recreation Center

Part of the rec center’s September movie series, Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark plays on the inflatable movie screen in the grassy yard adjacent to the pool. Bring a blanket, some warm layers, and plenty of popcorn. Free, aspenrecreation.com

Caring for Community 10K and Fun Run
9 a.m., Limelight Hotel Aspen

This 10K run (originally known as the Town to Trail race) takes competitors on trails and bike paths around Aspen. Don’t feel like racing? Sign up for the family and dog 1-mile fun run. Afterward, the Limelight Hotels (Aspen and Snowmass) host a finish-line party (10:30 a.m.–1 p.m.) at the corner of Monarch and Cooper, with BBQ, beer, and lawn games. A portion of run entry fees benefits the Aspen Skiing Company’s Caring for Community fund, an employee-managed entity that supports community-serving local nonprofits. Eight artists, whose performances range from comedy to dance, convene at this entertaining and eclectic event curated by local performance artist Alya Howe. Filmaker Marcia Kimpton talks about her new film, Bardo Blues; local percussionist Zack Ritchie returns with new grooves; Denver comedian A.J.
