What's in a Name?

How’s this for truth in advertising? A new café and eatery in Aspen is called Homemade Pasta. Guess what they serve? Prepared by Argentinian couple Yanina Dobarro and Martín Meineri, the homemade pasta in question comes in nine varieties, including squash and blue cheese, lamb and rosemary, and smoked salmon and mascarpone. Four sauces, also de casa, are offered as toppings. They’re all part of a menu heavy on Italian/Argentine influences: grilled croissants with prosciutto di Parma for breakfast; ham, brie, tomato, and tartufo oil panini for lunch; empandas and pasta for dinner. (Actually, everything on the menu is available all day, 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.)

Dobarro acknowledges that the café’s name sounds odd in English, but it will soon change. The expectant couple will rechristen their business, which is adjacent to City Market, when their first child is born. It’ll be Lorenzo’s Homemade Pasta if they have a boy or a yet-to-be-determined girl’s name. All together now: awwwww.
