Aspen's Winter Epicenter

Burgers, fries, and an ice rink are an unbeatable combination.

In 2010, restaurateurs Craig and Samantha Cordts-Pearce took over the lease of a once-moribund Silver Circle Ice Rink and upped the ambience with holiday lights, boughs of holly, music, and in a pique of genius, retooled the skate shack to sling not just blades but gourmet burgers and hand-cut fries.

“It’s a yin-yang thing,” says Craig. “The ice rink worked because there was a hamburger stand there and the hamburger stand worked because there was an ice rink there.”

Fourteen seasons later, the block thrums as Aspen’s winter epicenter. Maps refer to it as the Silver Circle, but in the hearts and minds of Aspenites, it’s the CP Burger Ice Rink.
