3 Make-at-Home Cocktails from Aspen Bars

Looking to serve some inspired drinks? Bad Harriet, EMP Winter House, and Marble Bar Aspen have just the right recipes.

There's no denying the bewitchingly intoxicating nature of experiencing Aspen's cocktail scene in person. But some evenings, especially when you're cozily ensconced by a roaring fire, it's a treat to stay at home. Or maybe you're having guests over and want to go beyond the standard gin and tonic or Moscow mule. Luckily, we convinced a trio of local establishments to share the recipes for their popular winter cocktails, perfect for sipping from the comfort of your couch.

Marble Up

This pepper-infused mule cocktail featured at the Marble Distilling Co. in Carbondale and the Marble Bar in Aspen will warm you up from the inside out. In December, the distillery launched its limited-edition Fire vodka as a way to give back to the community. Twenty-five percent of proceeds from the sale of the spirits support the Zach Burn Foundation, which helps youth burn survivors and their families. The vodka is available at both of Marble's bars and at local liquor stores ($19.99 per bottle)

Fill your favorite glass with ice, then add:
1 1/2 oz Marble Distilling Co. Fire (pepper-infused) vodka
1/2 oz lime juice
1/2 oz Marble Distilling Co. Gingercello

Top with ginger beer and garnish with lime and a slice of jalapeño.

Bad Harriet

The name applies to both the new, speakeasy-style drinking establishment at the Hotel Jerome and its signature cocktail, poured from a flask, which packs a refreshingly fruity, whiskey-infused punch.

Put the following ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake well:
1 1/2 oz Woody Creek Distillers Colorado Straight Rye ($44.99 per bottle, woodycreekdistillers.com)
1/2 oz blood orange juice
1/2 oz passion fruit juice
1 1/2 oz roasted pineapple mash (grill pineapple slices, remove the core, then blend until smooth with water and simple syrup)
1/2 oz lemon juice

Serve with a pour of Angostura bitters and a slice of dried orange (fresh orange peel will work in a pinch).

Bourbon Cider

In a mug combine:

1 1/4 oz Blade and Bow Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

2 oz hot apple cider

Garnish with a stick of cinnamon.
