Fresh off its release of limited edition ZX/1 Chaco sandals earlier this summer, Topo Designs is back in the collaboration game, unveiling a new, co-designed line with Austin-based fly-fishing and adventure outfitters Howler Brothers.

From its humble start in a basement in 2011, Topo Designs quickly achieved cult status among the outdoorsy set for its nostalgic, American-made gear delivering smart and simple design for any mountain activity. The Denver, Colo.–based company obviously stands out on its own, but its collaborations with other beloved gear brands over the years turns even more fans into loyal members of #TeamTopo.

From creative color-block combinations for Giro helmets and Salomon trail-runners to classic Woolrich patterns on backpacks and custom poles for Tenkara Rod Co., Topo’s cool combos usually sell out each season. It’s a brilliant marketing strategy, but one with meaning behind it.

“We often look at collaborating with companies that have a very complementary brand story, so the combined product lifts both brands to a new level and allows both of us to reach a wider audience,” says Topo Designs co-founder Jedd Rose. “We also often work with brands that we have a personal connection to, have admired their products, and just want to learn about their products and process. All of our collaborations are a limited run and become a bit of a collectors' item, which is really fun.”

Here’s a first look at the latest launch:

Topo Designs x Howler Brothers Mountain Pack, $198
It's the one pack that does it all with a durable, lightweight, and comfortable fit. A water-resistant truck-tarp base keeps gear clean and dry (no matter where you happen to set the bag down), and large side pockets fit a 32 oz. water bottle or a fly rod. Plus, the pack is handmade in Colorado.

Topo Designs x Howler Brothers Snapback Hat, $29
This classic five-panel hat features a limited edition Topo Designs x Howler Brothers embroidered patch with a multicolor braided visor accent; it'll keep you protected streamside or looking fly bellied up to the bar.

Topo Designs x Howler Brothers H Bar B Snapshirt, $75
From Austin to the Rockies, the Western-style snapshirt is an essential wardrobe staple. Made of quick-drying poly-cotton blend fabric, the shirt also features contrasting yellow pearlized snaps and nylon micro ripstop fabric patches on the shoulders to withstand the constant rubbing that comes with carrying a pack.

Topo Designs x Howler Brothers Field Bag, $139
From fishing to snapping photos, the Field Bag is the perfect carry all for your hip. It also features a water-resistant truck-tarp base that helps keep gear clean and dry, and comes with a breathable, padded back and shoulder strap, removable waist strap, and fully padded and lined interior.

Locally, you can find select Topo Designs pieces at Ute Mountaineer; along the Front Range at Topo's boutiques in Denver, Boulder, and Fort Collins; in their newest shop in San Francisco; and online at
