Boulder Denim's skinny fit jeans in surf blue

Shopping for jeans is often a struggle. Then, once you've finally decided on a pair, they may not stay put, much less allow you to bend over and move. Boulder Denim, which first launched in 2015 and recently introduced version 2.0, has solved those issues, thanks to a proprietary weaving technique that also incorporates four-way stretch.

We tested the women's skinny fit style, which has a higher waist (no gaping or glimpses of your underwear) and a truly comfortable fit. Originally designed for climbers, these jeans manage to hug curves without feeling restrictive and move with you on hikes, walks, bouldering, or even yoga. Reinforced stitching lends durability, and a PFC-free DWR treatment repels liquids, stains, and sweat. Plus, you don't have to wash them as often, so the environment thanks you. Boulder Denim jeans are also vegan, with no leather patches. Another bonus: deep pockets, including one that zips, because it's no fun to lose your coffee cash during a hike.

The jeans come in traditional dark and indigo wash, and are currently available in three fits: women's skinny, men's athletic (with a fuller cut to accommodate muscular legs) and slim; more colors, including surf blue, and styles are on the way. $148. boulderdenim.com
