Here. we. go.
The best action sports, music, and festival on the snow invades town this weekend, so we're giving you the full rundown of all things X Games to take in. Festivities are already underway, with practice in the SuperPipe and the ground-breaking "Shred Hate" campaign kickoff at Aspen High School. In conjunction with the non-profit organization No Bully, athletes will continue to visit schools across the country to introduce an enriched bullying-prevention curriculum. Our two local athletes Alex Ferreira and Torin Yater-Wallace represented at AHS proper and will go head-to-head as they compete in the Men's Ski SuperPipe Final on Friday (we can root for both right?).
All on mountain competitions at Buttermilk Mountain are free and open to the public, although the big-name concert calendar is almost nearly sold out. But miracles are common, so keep your eyes and ears open throughout the weekend for a rogue ticket. Club kids can find happenings at pretty much every hot spot in town and for a chiller vibe, head to Snowmass for free live music at Slow Groovin' BBQ, New Belgium Ranger Station, Nest Public House, and Venga Venga. DJs on Friday and Saturday nights aside, the BLK MKT boys are streaming all on-mountain events on big screens through the weekend with a pop-up shop from Think Tank Tattoo at Boogie's.
X Games weekend is notorious for ragers and parking is nonexistent, so here's one more friendly reminder to ride RFTA often, take a cab, support the non-profit “Free Rides for People Who Need Them” (970-319-2714), or get weird in the Ultimate Taxi. And for those looking to hookup, here's our official to the epic single scene in town.
This year, ESPN is giving Aspen Snowmass major airtime with 16 hours of extensive coverage and live content. Whether you're taking a break from the action or having FOMO at home, here's where you can tune in: ESPN, ABC, WatchESPN, WatchABC, and the ESPN App. A bonus seven hours of competition will also be streaming X Games YouTube Channel and hosted on XGames.com.
Have fun out there and see you on the sidelines, slopes, streets, and Instagram, everyone!
