If there’s a treat that’s sophisticated and chic, it’s most certainly the French macaron. And there is no more famous macaron than Ladurée’s. Hailing back to the opening of Louis Ernest Ladurée’s Parisian tea room in 1862, the confection, which consists of two meringue shells sandwiching a filling, is ethereal and captivating.

Elisabeth Holder, president of Ladurée US, declares macarons “the supermodels of the food industry.” And now, as of this past summer, the famed confections have a presence in Aspen. The Little Nell and AspenX partnered with the French company to bring the brand to town.

In addition to offering Little Nell guests a welcome four-pack in a souvenir box, Ladurée macarons—in chocolate, vanilla, raspberry, lemon, pistachio, caramel, rose petal, and Marie Antoinette—are available inside the AspenX store in the gondola plaza. Come spring, order a selection from Ladurée’s ornate, mint green and gold cart parked outside the store.
