Wait for them to politely/pedantically/condescendingly decline. Then offer the artist’s name—Tom Sachs. Enjoy the backpedalling.

A collaborative effort between the Aspen Art Museum, Baldwin Gallery, and the Westin Snowmass Resort, Miffy Fountain and My Melody, two large-scale Sachs sculptures (bronze but painted white), will sit in front of the hotel through September 8. Reimaginings of popular cartoon characters, both pieces offer a whimsical take on consumer culture, a hallmark of Sachs’s work. Not enough irony for you? Try this: as far as outdoor art goes, Snowmass is now hipper than Aspen.
