Wheeler Opera House

Presented by Wheeler Opera House January 9, 2025

What was it like stepping into your role at the Wheeler Opera House?

It was like stepping into a dream. The Wheeler is a beautiful, historic venue with world-class programming, a top-notch staff, and has a community in Aspen that is enthusiastic and supportive of the arts.

How does your previous experience in New York inform your leadership at the Wheeler?

My 22 years in New York, on both the producing side at TheaterWorksUSA and the presenting side at NYU Skirball Center, have given me a deep understanding of what it takes to build strong arts programming and foster strong relationships.

I am a believer in collaboration, not competition.

In New York, I worked with partners including The Public Theater, HBO Sports, World Music Institute, and many more—emphasizing programming that resonates with diverse audiences. I’m bringing that experience to Aspen.

What can visitors look forward to in the upcoming season?

As we prepare to reopen in January, we’re excited to unveil a robust calendar of events that offers something for everyone: comedy, music, film, dance, theater, and everything in between. Events will constantly be added, so I encourage everyone to visit our website, subscribe to our email list, and follow us on social media to be the first to know of new events so you can get your tickets while they last!

What are your long-term goals for the Wheeler Opera House?

My long-term vision is to strengthen the Wheeler’s reputation as a cultural cornerstone for Aspen and the broader arts community. “Rooted locally, recognized globally” is what I’m aiming for. We will continue to host high-caliber artists while fostering partnerships that push the boundaries of what we can offer. At the same time, I want to create additional opportunities for local artists and emerging talent in The Vault, ensuring that the Wheeler remains a platform for both established and new voices. Through it all is a commitment to accessibility and sustainability, so that the Wheeler is a welcoming experience for all, for years to come.
